Guru (गुरु | guru) is the genuine Spiritual Master who dispels ignorance, reveals Divine Truth, and guides the soul toward God-realization.

Understanding

In Vedic philosophy, Guru is not merely a teacher, preacher, or religious guide. A true Guru is both:

  • Shrotriya — one who possesses complete knowledge of the scriptures.
  • Brahmanishtha — one who has realized God.

The Vedic scriptures declare that God-realization is impossible without the grace and guidance of such a genuine saint. Guru removes ignorance, reveals spiritual truth, and awakens Divine knowledge within the soul.

Jagadguruttam Swami Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj explains that surrender to a true Guru is essential because the bound soul cannot independently transcend Māyā or attain God.

Guru is often glorified as more merciful even than God Himself because Guru uplifts spiritually fallen souls and bestows Divine Grace and Divine Love.
