Kayavyuh Deh

Kayavyuh Deh is used for yogically created bodies and, in another context, a special class of Shri Radha’s Gopis.

One meaning of Kayavyuh Deh is the temporary creation of multiple bodies through accumulated yogic powers.

Kayavyuh Deh (कायव्यूह देह | kāyavyūha deha) literally means multiple bodies. In the teachings of Jagadguruttam Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj, the expression is used in two distinct senses. The intended meaning depends on the context.

1. Multiple Bodies Created Through Yogic Powers

One meaning of Kayavyuh Deh refers to the temporary creation of multiple bodies through accumulated yogic powers.

Shri Maharaj Ji gives the example of Shaubhari Muni, who created fifty bodies in order to marry the fifty daughters of King Mandhata. These temporary bodies were created through the yogi's accumulated Yog Siddhis.

Unlike God, a yogi is not omnipresent. Whenever a yogi manifests additional bodies, he must create them through yogic power, and those powers are gradually depleted through use.

This should not be confused with God's eternal Divine Forms, which are revealed through His infinite Yogmaya Shakti rather than created.

2. Kayavyuh Deh Swaroopa Gopis

In another context, Shri Maharaj Ji uses the expression "Kayavyuh Deh Swaroopa Gopis" (कायव्यूह देह स्वरूपा गोपी | kāyavyūha deha svarūpā gopī) to describe a particular class of the exclusive Gopis of Shri Radha. These Gopis inherently know how to serve Shri Radha Krishna without needing instruction.

Just as the limbs of the body naturally act according to the intentions of the mind without requiring separate instruction, these Gopis are so perfectly attuned to the wishes of Shri Radha Krishna that they instinctively know how to serve Them at every moment.

For this reason, they are poetically described as the Kayavyuh Deh of Shri Radha. This expression does not imply that they are physical bodies. Rather, it is a devotional expression describing a special class of Gopis whose service is perfectly attuned to the wishes of Shri Radha Krishna.

Why Context Matters

Although the same expression is used in both cases, the meanings are entirely different.

In one context, Kayavyuh Deh refers to multiple temporary bodies created through yogic powers.

In the other, it is a devotional expression describing a special class of Gopis whose service is perfectly attuned to the wishes of Shri Radha Krishna.
