Adbhut Kripa—The Ultimate Grace
Adbhut Kripā (अद्भुत कृपा | adbhuta kr̥pā) refers to the highest act of divine grace through which the soul is freed from Māyā and granted the ultimate bliss it has always sought.
What It Is
Adbhut Kripā is the act by which:
- the mind is freed from all material attachments
- the veil of Māyā is removed
- the mind is made divine
Through this grace, the jeev receives the ultimate bliss it has been striving for.
What It Entails
This act of grace includes the removal of all coverings and afflictions of Māyā, such as:
- Panchkosh (five sheaths)
- Panchklesh (five afflictions)
- Trikarma (three types of karma)
- Tritāap (threefold miseries)
- Tridoṣh (three defects)
- Triśarīr (three bodies)
The Guru then:
- divinizes the mind
- bestows the power of Bhakti within it
Role of Guru
Adbhut Kripā is not bestowed directly by God.
It is given through a God-realized Guru.
Just as a wealthy person entrusts full authority to a steward,
God grants the Guru the authority to bestow this ultimate grace.
