brahmajnani (ब्रह्मज्ञानी | brahmajñānī) is a knower of the Impersonal aspect of God (Brahm).

A brahmajnani is a soul who has realized the impersonal (nirākār) aspect of God — Brahm.

This realization is not intellectual. It is direct experiential knowledge of the soul’s identity as distinct from the body and mind, and its oneness with Brahm.

What Defines a Brahmajnani

  • Has transcended identification with body and mind
  • Realizes the self as pure consciousness (ātma)
  • Attains knowledge of Nirākār Brahm
  • Experiences freedom from material bondage

How This State Is Reached

According to the path described:

  1. Bhakti is performed initially
→ to purify the mind and gain control over it
  2. Gyan (knowledge) is pursued
→ to realize “I am the soul, not the body”
  3. Bhakti is again performed
→ now with the desire to merge into Brahm
  4. Divine Grace is received
→ God bestows realization of Brahm

Key Clarification

A brahmajnani realizes Brahm (impersonal God), not the personal form of God (Bhagavān).
