Panchmahabhoot (पंचमहाभूत)
Panchmahabhoot are the five primary gross elements from which the material world and material body are made.
Panchmahabhoot (पंचमहाभूत | pañcamahābhūta) means the five primary gross elements from which the material world is made.
They are:
- Akash — space
- Vayu — air
- Tej — fire
- Jal — water
- Prithvi — earth
Panchmahabhoot are also called Panch Tattva (पंचतत्त्व | pañcatattva). Each individual element may be called a bhoot or mahabhoot.
The material body of every jeev, as well as gross and subtle non-living things in the material universe, is made from these elements.
