Vaidhi Bhakti
Vaidhi Bhakti (वैधी भक्ति | vaidhī bhakti) refers to rule-based devotion practiced according to Vedic injunctions.
- vidhi — rule or method
- bhakti — devotion
What It Means
In Vaidhi Bhakti:
- A practitioner follows Vedic rules and disciplines, including:
- Varnāśram Dharma
- karmakāṇḍ (ritual practices)
- Actions are performed:
- in a strict, prescribed manner
- with the goal of attaining:
- mukti (liberation)
- or other results
Key Insight
Vaidhi Bhakti is driven by:
- rules
- and often by fear or desire for results
It is therefore considered a lower (apar) form of devotion, as it does not arise from spontaneous love.
