Quick Meaning

The bliss-giving potency present within God, the soul, and Māyā, through which pleasurable experience becomes possible.

Doctrinal Understanding

All three eternal powers — Yogamāyā, jīva, and Māyā — possess hlādinī śakti, though its function differs in each.

  • Hlādinī śakti of Yogamāyā, manifests the Divine sweetness, beauty, charm, bliss, and loving ecstatic experiences of the Divine realm.
  • Hlādinī śakti of jīva, enables the experience of spiritual bliss and realization, including Brahma-jñāna.
  • Hlādinī śakti of Māyā, is reason why the worldly pleasures appear enjoyable to the materially bound soul.

Thus, the same category of bliss potency operates differently according to the nature of the energy in which it resides.
