Srishti (सृष्टि)

Srishti is the reappearance of the material world after dissolution, not the creation of an entirely new world.

Srishti (सृष्टि)

Srishti (सृष्टि | sṛṣṭi) means to release and refers to the manifestation of the material world.

Srishti does not mean creating an entirely new world. The material world is repeatedly revealed and concealed in an eternal cycle of Srishti (creation), Sthiti (maintenance), and Pralay (dissolution).

At the time of dissolution, the material creation returns to its primordial form, Prakriti, which rests within God.

At the time of Srishti, God releases Prakriti, which unfolds again to manifest the material world as it existed before dissolution.

This cycle has been continuing since eternity.

Alternate spellings: Shrishti, Sṛṣṭi, सृष्टि
