Which Vedic Darshan should be followed?

There are six Vedic schools of philosophy called darshan. Together all these are called Darshan Shastra. Some are astik darshan some of these are nastik darshan. Some advise reduction of suffering others advise finding bliss. This is very confusing. What should one follow?

Good question. Let us solve it here.

The selfless activities prescribed in the Mimansa texts are first performed for the purification of the mind. Next, the spiritual aspirant listens (shravana - श्रवण) to the Vedant.

After that Nyay and Vaisheshik scriptures teach one how to ponder (manana - मनन) on those teachings. Lastly, one practices profound meditation (nididhyasana - निदिध्यासन) as taught in Sankhya and Patanjali. Thereafter one attains God.

Overwhelming, isn't it?

In the first three yugas of chaturyug humans had a long enough lifespan to read through all of these scriptures. Also, people in those yuga had the brain power to assimilate this much philosophy, reconcile it and put it all into practice.

Presently, we are in Kaliyug where reading this literature in its entirety is impossible. Let alone understanding of all these. Then it is self-evident that putting all of this into practice to attain God realization is a moot-point.

That is why Scriptures do not advise following all these in Kaliyug. Sage Narad knows the essense of Vedas and is one of acharyas of bhakti. Before writing Narad Bhakti Sutra, he vowed to establish bhakti in each and every household.

Shri Maharaj Ji also promotes bhakti which can be done by everyone, in every yuga, with every bhav, in all places, at all times.
