The term is a compound of two Sanskrit words:
- Vibhu: Meaning all-pervading, infinite, or unlimited.
- Chit: Meaning consciousness, knowledge, or sentient energy.
Vibhuchit is a specific epithet for God (Brahm), describing His nature as the infinite ocean of consciousness. He is not only the reservoir of awareness but also the ultimate source who imparts consciousness to all sentient beings (jivas).
