Smriti (Devanagari: स्मृति; ISO 15919: smr̥ti) literally means "that which is remembered."
Definition Unlike the Vedas (which are eternal and emerged from God), Smriti refers to scriptures composed by God-realized saints. These sages wrote down these texts based on their direct spiritual experience and their memory of the divine truths revealed in the Vedas.
