panchamrita | पंचामृत
panchamrita (Devanagari: पंचामृत; ISO 15919: pañcāmr̥ta) is a sacred devotional offering used to bathe Hari/Guru. The name literally means "Five Nectars."
It is a mixture of five essential ingredients:
- Milk (Dugdha)
- Curd (Yogurt or Dadhi)
- Ghee (Clarified Butter)
- Honey (Madhu)
- Sugar (or often crystallized sugar candy)
This mixture is used to ritualistically bathe the Deity (known as Abhisheka) and is later consumed by devotees as a blessing (Prasad).
