kamadev | कामदेव
Kamadev (Devanagari: कामदेव, ISO 15919: kāmadēva) is a celestial devata residing in Svarga. Among all material beings, he is considered the most handsome. Known as the god of conjugal love, Kamadev wields a bow and arrows—anyone struck by his arrow becomes filled with lust.
However, his powers have no effect on divine personalities. Once, he attempted to influence Shri Krishna during the Maharaas, but upon beholding Shri Krishna’s indescribable beauty, Kamadev himself was utterly captivated. Likewise, his enchantments hold no sway over God-realized saints.
In Shri Maharaj Ji's literature he is referenced by several other names
- Anang (Devanagari: अनंग ISO15919: anaṅga)
- Kandarpa (Devanagari: कंदर्प ISO15919: kandarpa)
- Madan (Devanagari: मदन ISO15919: madana)
Kamadev’s consort is Rati, regarded as the most beautiful among all material women. Yet even her beauty pales before the transcendental radiance of Shri Radha Rani and Her divine companions.
