Jad | जड़​

Jad (Devanagari: जड़ ISO15919: jaṛa) is used in a few contexts

  • Jad Jiva - The immobile living beings e.g. plants are referred to as jad jiva. They have life but cannot move.
  • Jad Objects - This are non-living things e.g. mud, water etc
  • a bumbling fool

Opposite of jad is chetan.
