Aptakama (Devanagari: आप्तकाम; ISO 15919: āptakāma) is an epithet meaning self-contented or one whose desires are fulfilled.

🧘 Context for Gyanis

This epithet is used for Gyanis (self-realized souls) because all their material desires are annihilated. As a result, they become oblivious to the external world and develop a state of indifference toward worldly affection—they do not love anyone, regardless of whether others love them or not.

👑 Context for Shri Krishna

Crucially, Aptakama is also used for Shri Krishna. While the Gyanis achieve this state through annihilation of desires, Shri Krishna is eternally Aptakama by nature, being the embodiment of complete fulfillment.

Also written as apta-kama, aptakaam
