yaama | याम
yaama (Devanagari: याम ISO15919: yāma) is a Vedic unit of time. It is span of three hours. A day is divided into eight yaamas: nishanta – midnight to dawn, pratah – 3am to 6am, purvahna – 6am to 9am, madhyahna – 9am to 12noon, aparahna – 12noon to 3pm, sayam – 3pm to 6pm, pradosha – 6pm to 9pm, nisha – 9pm to 12 midnight.
