Vedic Varna System: The Divine Origin of Equality
Explore the divine origin of humanity from Shri Krishna. Understand the true meaning of the Varna system, the myth of caste hierarchy, and the path to humility. (160 characters)
Before the creation of the material world, the Supreme God, Shri Krishna, existed alone. At the moment of creation, He manifested as Maha Vishnu, who activated the cosmic power of Maya to produce innumerable universes. Within these universes, the first human beings emerged from various parts of God’s divine body. Their social roles—intellectuals, warriors, traders, and assistants—were originally based on their specific skills and represented a functional division of labor, not a hierarchy of worth.
Over time, this system was corrupted by self-interest, and social status became tied to birth rather than character. However, scriptural logic refutes this prejudice:
- Universal Brotherhood: Since all humans are children of the same Creator, all are brothers and sisters.
- The Holiness of the Feet: While some call those who emerged from the feet "lowly," God’s feet are actually served by the Goddess of Fortune and are the source of the holy River Ganges.
- Divine Essence: Every pore of God’s body is equally sacred and composed of pure bliss.
In the modern era, these classifications have lost their meaning. The Bhagavat Mahapuran clarifies that a person’s true worth is measured by their devotion, not their birth. True identity belongs to the divine soul (jeev), which is eternally pure and distinct from temporary social labels. To find true happiness, one must practice humility—being "more humble than a blade of grass"—and focus on acquiring spiritual wealth rather than worldly prestige.
