swayamvara | स्वयंवर

swayamvara (Devanagari: स्वयंवर ISO15919: svayaṁvara) is a grand ceremony where the girl chooses a groom for herself.

Parents invite all the eligible grooms. The bride puts the garland around the neck of the groom. Later the Vedic rituals of wedding are performed.
