Swati Nakshatra (Devanagari: स्वाति नक्षत्र; ISO 15919: svāti nakṣatra) is a constellation in Vedic astrology. It is visually represented by symbols such as a sword, a blade of grass, or a young sprout.

This star constellation holds special significance:

  • The Chataka Bird: It is believed that the Chataka bird drinks only the rainwater that falls during this specific constellation.
  • Pearl Formation: Tradition holds that if a raindrop falling during Swati Nakshatra enters an oyster, it transforms into a natural pearl.

The bird drinks only rainwater which falls from the sky during this constellation. When a rain drop in this constellation falls into an oyster then it produces natural pearls.
