Srishti (Devanagari: सृष्टि ISO15919: sr̥ṣṭi) means to release and is a term used for creation of the material world.

Please note process of creation does not mean the material world is created anew. The material world is revealed and concealed.

The Vedas declare creation to be a cyclic process of srishti (creation), stithi (maintenance) and pralaya (dissolution) of the material world.

At the time of dissolution, creation folds up into its primary form (prakriti), which then rests within God.

At the time of creation, God releases prakriti which again unfolds by reverse movement. This cycle has been going on since eternity.
