seva | सेवा
Seva (Devanagari: सेवा ISO15919: sevā) means to serve.
There are three ways to do seva: physically, mentally and financially.
The nature of the jiva is to serve. The purpose of seva is to make the Master happy. Jiva can serve either The Supreme God or Maya.
Per the divine laws, serving the Master for one's own happiness is not true seva. If someone serves their Guru physically but has doubts or negative thoughts in their mind, it is not considered seva. True seva happens only when it is done with the sole intention of pleasing God and Guru.
The mind must be completely surrendered to Their will. However, using one’s body and wealth in the service of Hari (God) and Guru helps deepen the surrender of the mind.
So, one should use one's body, mind, and wealth to serve and please the Supreme Lord and Guru.
