The friendship between God and the individual soul (jiva) is eternal. This is sakhya sambandha (Devanagari: सख्य संबंध ISO15919: sakhya saṁbaṁdha).

God is not a friend who stays only in good times. He is always with the jiva in every yoni at all times. Even if the jiva ignores Him, or worse talks ill of Him, He does not desert the jiva, even for a single moment.

God always desires the wellbeing of jiva. He notes down the karma of the jiva. To nudge the jiva towards eternal bliss, God doles out results of our actions.

One of the four relationships the jiva has with God.
