Sadhan Chatushtaya | साधन चतुष्टय
Sadhan-chatushtaya (Devanagari: साधन चतुष्टय सम्पन्न ISO15919: sādhana catuṣṭaya sampanna) means the fourfold discipline. It is the eligibility test for one who wishes to step onto the path of Gyan Marg. Only after mastering these four qualifications can a seeker even begin the journey of knowledge:
- Discrimination between real and unreal – the wisdom to discern the eternal from the perishable.
- Detachment from the world – freedom from attraction to transient pleasures.
- Control over the mind and senses – steadiness and mastery within.
- An intense longing for mukti (liberation) – a burning desire to be free from bondage.
