Puranas | पुराण
Like the Vedas, Puranas (Devanagari: पुराण ISO15919: purāṇa ) are also eternal scriptures. They convey the knowledge of the Vedas through stories that highlight universal values, such as non-violence, charity, penance, compassions, and so on.
Puranas have 1 Billion hymns. In Kaliyug people don't have a vast memory or comprehension power. Therefore, just before the start of Kaliyug, Sage Veda Vyas condensed 1 Billion hymns into 400,000 verses and compiled them in 18 main Puranas .
Shrimad Bhagavata Mahapuran was the last Purana penned by Sage Veda Vyasa. It is the crown jewel of all Vedic Scriptures as it provides the commentary on Vedanta and all 4 Vedas.
