bimba-pratibimbavada (Devanagari: बिम्ब-प्रतिबिम्बवाद ISO15919: bimba-pratibimbavāda) is the doctrine of reflection.

Followers of Jagadguru Shankaracharya refuted the prior versions of advait-vada propounded by Jagadguru Shankaracharya and his followers.

They came up with bimba-pratibimbavada. It states that just like the sun, moon, stars cast a reflection on water, similarly jiva is a reflection of Brahm.

This philosophy is does not withstand logical reasoning.

  • Brahm is formless. Formless things don't cast any reflection. Means formless jiva being a reflection of formless Brahm is not possible.
  • Again Brahm is formless. This samsara has a form, one can see, hear, taste, touch smell it. Means formless Brahm cast a reflection which has form. It is also unnatural.
