panchaklesha (Devanagari: पंचक्लेश ISO15919: paṁcakleśa) are the five types of afflictions: avidya – ignorance due to misidentification with the body resulting in attachment to the impure or non-eternal, asmita – pride, false identification with the self, raaga – attachment to the world, dvesha – aversion towards worldly objects or persons, abhinivesha – the fear of death.
