pancha jnanendriya | पंच ज्ञानेन्द्रिय

The knowledge acquiring senses are called jnanendriya (Devanagari: ज्ञानेन्द्रिय ISO15919: jñānēndriya). These are the faculties through which we comprehend physical things and acquire knowledge.

There are five senses and each resides in an organ in the body e.g.

  • the sight live inside the eyes
  • hearing inside of the ears
  • perceive touch inside the skin
  • taste inside the toungue
  • smell inside the nose

Together they are called pancha-jnanendriyan (Devanagari: पंच ज्ञानेन्द्रिय ISO15919: pañca jñānēndriya).
