nirvikalpa samadhi (Devanagari: निर्विकल्प समाधि ISO15919: nirvikalpa samādhi) is the state of the mind when it becomes totally inactive.

When the jnani attains brahmajnana, the highest achievement possible by following the path of jnana the mind goes dormant. When the knower ceases to exist then the triad - the knower, the knowledge and the knowable - is eliminated.

In this unwavering trance there is no consciousness of duality. The jnani sees nothing, hears nothing, thinks nothing, feels nothing, tastes nothing.
