Mithya (Devanagari: मिथ्या; ISO 15919: mithyā) generally signifies "false," "illusory," or "impermanent."

The Nature of the World Some Advaita Vedantis refer to both Maya and the world as mithya in the sense of being an illusion. However, per the Vedas, this is an incorrect interpretation. The material world is created by God's eternal cosmic power, Maya. Therefore, both Maya and the world are real—meaning they are not illusions.

Nevertheless, the scriptures term the world Mithya because it is impermanent (not everlasting).

False Expectation Furthermore, the expectation of deriving eternal bliss from this world is undeniably "false." Since the world itself is transient, the happiness derived from it cannot be eternal.
