Mimansa (Devanagari: मीमांसा; ISO 15919: mīmāṁsā) also known as Purva Mimansa (Devanagari: पूर्व मीमांसा; ISO 15919: pūrva mīmāṁsā) is one of the six schools of philosophy (Darshan Shastras), authored by Sage Jaimini.

Its twelve chapters codify the rules of Vedic Varnashram Dharma, focusing on the ritualistic duties (Karma Kanda) and ceremonies prescribed in the Vedas. Strict adherence to this rightful conduct results in a relatively peaceful life in the present and the enjoyment of celestial pleasures in the afterlife.

General Usage: In a broader context, the word mimansa simply refers to the careful analysis or profound reflection upon a topic.
