Maya shakti (Devanagari: माया / माया शक्ति ISO15919: māyā / māyā śakti) or simply Maya (Devanagari: माया ISO15919: māyā) is one of the three primary powers of The Supreme Lord - Shri Krishna.

It is the external insentient power of God through which He creates this material world.

There are several jiva who have eternally turned away from God. Maya dominates those jiva. This material world provides those mayadina jiva the opportunity to turn towards Him and to attain Him.

It consists of three gunas or modes.
