manomaya kosha | मनोमय कोष
Manomaya Kosha (Devanagari: मनोमय कोष; ISO 15919: manōmaya kōṣa) refers to the Mental Sheath.
Composition It is the third of the five layers (Pancha Kosha) that cover the soul. This sheath consists of:
- Manas: The Mind (the faculty of thought and emotion).
- Pancha Jnanendriya: The five senses of knowledge (eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and skin).
Function The Manomaya Kosha is responsible for sensory processing, feeling, and desiring. It acts as the bridge between the outer material world and the inner intellect. Like the other sheaths, it is a product of Maya and contributes to the illusion of a separate identity.
