Loka (Devanagari: लोक ISO15919: loka) is a generic term used for an abode or a realm.

Each avatar has Their own loka in the divine realm. This is where the Avatar bodes eternally.

In a brahmanda there are fourteen major lokas. There are seven upper abodes, and seven lower abodes.

The seven celestial abodes are: Bhuloka, Bhuvaloka, Svaloka, Mahaloka, Janaloka, Tapaloka and Satyaloka (also called Brahmaloka).

The seven lower abodes are: Atalaloka, Vitalaloka, Sutalaloka, Talatalaloka, Mahatalaloka, Rasatalaloka and Patalaloka.

In addition there are primarily 28 narak as well.
