karma-bandhan | कर्मबंधन

Every time a jiva (soul) takes birth in a human form, it engages in actions—both paap (sinful) and punya (virtuous). As a result, it must undergo the consequences of these actions. Meanwhile, the sanchit karma—the accumulated karmas from countless past lives—remain unresolved, and each new human birth only adds to this burden. In this way, the jīva becomes increasingly entangled in the bondage of karma, known as karma-bandhana (Devanagari: कर्मबंधन, ISO 15919: karmabandhana).
This ever-growing web of karmic entanglement is also referred to as karmajala (Devanagari: कर्मजाल, ISO 15919: karmajāla), the net of actions.
