Guna (Devanagari: गुण ISO15919: triguṇa ) means quality of Maya . Maya has three qualities which are collectively referred to as triguna (Devanagari: त्रिगुण ISO15919: triguṇa ).
- sattvik guna - goodness symbolized by white colour
- rajasik guna - passion, symbolised by the colour red and
- tamasik guna - ignorance, symbolised by the colour black.
Each of these are superior to the subsequent ones and yet one needs to rise above all of them to attain God.
