Trying to focus on the divine form and qualities of God is called dhyaan (Devanagari: ध्यान ISO15919: dhyāna ).

  • Sixth of the eight limbs of yoga compulsory for the spiritual edification of the soul. See ashtanga yoga .
  • Different acharyas of bhakti also advise focusing on God's divine name, form, lilas , virtues, abodes . Along with dhyan they used different names like
    • smaran (Devanagari: स्मरण ISO15919: smaraṇa )
    • manana (Devanagari: मनन ISO15919: manana )
    • sumiran (Devanagari: सुमिरन ISO15919: sumirana )
    • rupadhyana - focussing on divine form of God.
