Brahmin (Devanagari: ब्राह्मण ISO15919: brāhmaṇa) has a commonly used meaning. It also has a less used meaning. Both of these are found in the Vedas

  • One of the four Hindu social classes: the priestly class or the class meant to dedicate their lives to simple living and the study and teaching of scripture. See varna.
  • The other meaning of the word brahmin is one who knows Brahm-God.
