bhukti | भुक्ति

Bhukti (Devanagari: भुक्ति ISO15919: bhukti ) means the desire for attaining pleasures of this world and celestial worlds.

These worldly pleasures range from our Earth to Lord Brahma's abode called Brahmloka .

Bhukti is of three grades. Though all these are deplorable yet each subsequent one is superior than the previous one.

  • tamasi bhukti (Devanagari: तामसी भुक्ति ISO15919: tāmasī bhukti ) - violence, intoxication, harming others, lying all such kinds of evil activities fall in this category.
  • rajasi bhukti (Devanagari: राजसी भुक्ति ISO15919: rājasī bhukti ) - This is I earn I spend on me and mine.
  • sattvik bhukti (Devanagari: सात्त्विक भुक्ति ISO15919: sāttvika bhukti ) - attaching mind to sattvik people or things falls in this category .

Since these are all under the control of Maya , so all of them ought to be abandoned.
