banamala / vanamala | बनमाला / वनमाला

The Banmala (also known as Vanamala) is the distinctive, knee-length garland worn by Shri Krishna.

It is made by stringing together five kinds of flowers and leaves:

1. leaves of holy basil (tulsi),
2. jasmine (kunda),
3. the coral tree flower (mandara),
4. lotus (kamala) and
5. parijata flowers.

Parijata tree is a celestial tree which emerged during the churning of the milk ocean.

श्री कृष्ण द्वारा पहनी जाने वाली घुटने तक की माला जो पाँच प्रकार के फूलों से तैयार की जाती है, अर्थात् तुलसी के पत्ते (तुलसी), चमेली के फूल (कुंद), मूंगा के फूल (मंदार), कमल के फूल (कमल) और पारिजात के फूल । पारिजात दिव्य वृक्ष है जो क्षीर​ सागर के मंथन से उत्पन्न हुआ था ।
